Press Release

We are excited to be exhibition at Expo Chicago 2019 where we will be presenting works by Jim Adams, June Edmonds, Alexandra Smith, Federico Solmi and Peter Williams.  Two of Peter Williams paintings are from his new series that will be presented in his upcoming solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) which opens in March.  June Edmonds abstract flag paintings are inspired by African Americans or events in history and their color palette is based on the primary colors of Black skin tones (red, yellow and blue).  Her monumental painting, Story of the Ohio: for Margaret, was inspired by her experiences during an artist residency in Kentucky and the story of Margaret Garner, an enslaved African American in pre-Civil War America. We are pleased to bring 80 year-old Jim Adams' historic work to Chicago and are proud to bring attention to his important artistic practice.  Concurrent with Federico Solmi's first museum survey of 20 years of work being presented at the Tarble Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University, we will be presenting several new over the top animated videos in his signature style. Also, the Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University has just added a video painting to their collection and will be exhibiting his work in the near future.  And lastly, young Alexandra Smith has recently moved to London where she is the new head of painting at the Royal Academy.
