    CLAUDE ZERVAS: Motonic
WOLFGANG HASTERT: Tom Is Your Friend
    MAY 3 – MAY 30, 2008

LUIS DE JESUS is pleased to present CLAUDE ZERVAS: "Motonic" in Gallery One; WOLFGANG HASTERT: "Tom Is Your Friend" in Gallery Two; and Darius Kuzmickas: "After Glow" in the Project Space, opening May 3 – 30, 2008. This will be the first solo exhibition for each artist at SEMINAL PROJECTS.

    Claude Zervas: "Motonic" (Gallery One)
Claude Zervas’ new LED and fluorescent light sculptures simulate the dynamics of reductive kinetic sequences by evoking simple animal movement, primitive life forms, and the preconscious mind. Subtle motion and color sequences embedded in the formal structure construct a potentiality where an embodied understanding of sensual phenomena can occur. This will be Claude Zervas’s first solo exhibition in California. His work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and Microsoft Corporation.

Wolfgang Hastert: "Tom Is Your Friend" (Gallery Two)
A mesmerizing new video and photo series by noted director and UCSD lecturer, Wolfgang Hastert, Tom is Your Friend explores ideas of community and communication vis–a–vis social networking sites. The works make a profound and bitter–sweet comment on “friending in cyberspace”" as they portray a young generation that wants to hook up but gets caught up in romantic anxiety. Trained as a photographer, Wolfgang Hastert works in both film and video. His interest in portraying the phenomenon of social networking sites resulted in the feature length Click Me:), his award winning documentary about people searching for love online. The short CYBERVIXEN, a video based on footage from webcam chat communities, was presented in the program POETICS OF BANDWIDTH in the international media arts festival LA FREEWAVES.

Darius Kuzmickas: "After Glow" (Project Space)
Selections from After Glow, a new series of pinhole photographs by Lithuanian–born, Las Vegas–based photographer Darius Kuzmickas that capture the eerie flip–side of daylight in the Neon Homeland. In these "lensless" pictures the glitz and glam of The Strip give way to a dream–like reality suffused with the light and emotional timbre of a solar eclipse.
