Margaret Morgan - Artists - Luis De Jesus Los Angeles

Margaret Morgan is an Australian- American artist living and working in Los Angeles. Her practice is based in drawing ephemera, photos from her phone, and text excerpts. Morgan draws from the everyday. Her works may be considered bookish and read like a rebus, a text poetic, an image made from scraps, residues, broken things. She wants to produce an alchemy of the ordinary. Her work speaks to the trauma of being a woman under patriarchy and she hopes to provide solace for herself and for her most attentive readers. A champion of the arts, Morgan’s critical practice has extended to teaching and serving on the boards of fine art and music organizations.

Margaret Morgan holds an MFA from University of California, Irvine, a BA from College of Fine Arts, UNSW, Sydney, Australia, and is an alumnus of The Whitney Independent Study Program at The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Morgan has exhibited internationally.
