Description

Conversation between artist Hector Dionicio Mendoza and Associate Professor of Latina/o Studies David Hernandez focusing on two new acquisitions within the larger context of Mendoza’s artistic practice. Often incorporating recycled materials, Mendoza’s art explores themes of migration and the environment as well as the geographies of place, memory, identity, and the visualization of immigrant stories. Born in Uruapan, Mexico and relocating to California at the age of twelve, Mendoza he is currently a professor in the Visual and Public Art Department at CSU, Monterey Bay. The conversation will be followed by a Q & A with the audience.
